Writing About Dance
Writing About Dance is a wonderfully thoughtful space where Nicholas Minns shares his personal musings about the dance he sees, primarily in and around London1. For some reason, it is not a website that routinely appears in searches, and it really should.
What I appreciate about Minns’ style is his calm authority and the way he not only provides precise details about the dance itself but also surrounds it with wider context and interesting asides.
It is definitely not a shouty or gratuitously harsh space, nor does it attempt to summarise a work using star ratings. Every word matters, and he tends to write longer than many. Sadly, for a while last year, the site was not very active, but it has been a pleasure to see reviews/thoughts emerge again, if still somewhat patchily. Anyway, long may Writing About Dance continue.
